Seoul Food: Cry Cheese Burger, In-N-Out Burger done Gangnam Style

Cry Cheese Burger – Korea’s Answer to In-N-Out Burger Since moving to Korea back in February 2015, I’ve heard expats moan and groan about missing In-N-Out Burger.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard the American mating call moan of “Animal Style Friiiiiies”.  If I had man won ($10) for each, I’d have…

Seoul Food: Brera Italian Restaurant – The Pasta

There are a number of places which pop up time and time again on the Seoul Restaurant Buzz Facebook page (*ahem* M n’ M*ahem*).  An Italian restaurant just outside Itaewon near Beotigogae Station seems to get a lot of action, too.  Don’t get me wrong, they’re good.  More often than not I find these places…

Seoul Food: Oh! Poutine – Itaewon

Oh Poutine: Canadian Comfort Food in Seoul, South Korea As a Canadian, I have a bias on how cheese curds have to be made.  They have to be slightly melty, definitely chunky, and above all: they have to squeak!  Thankfully, I share this bias with Ellie of Oh Poutine in Itaewon, Seoul.  She spends 6-7…

Happy, Healthy, Fit: Easy Weight Loss Tips!

Losing Weight and Keeping it off while Traveling

Before I left Toronto to teach ESL in Korea, many of my friends (some leaner than others) told me that I would drop weight like crazy in Korea since the diet is so healthy and full of fermented dishes. While it is true that the traditional dishes can be quite healthy, they they aren’t always, and the ones that are also lack flavour.

Sincheon Sweetness: A Day Off

Whenever I let people know I live in Sincheon, I usually say Jamsil instead. Sincheon is located in between Sports Complex (where the LG Twins and Doosan Bears play, where tons of music festivals and concerts are held, and where what I believe is the second tier soccer team calls home) and Jamsil. In Seoul there is “Sinchon” and “Sincheon”, so it’s easiest just to say Jamsil. The reaction is usually “Whoa! You live so far away!”.

The Great Korean Gym Debate

As many of you probably remember, I’ve been working diligently to shed weight while in Korea.  I didn’t get a scale until April or May, and I figure I ballooned when I first arrived in Korea seeing as I had brought a bunch of Cadbury Creme Eggs I never ended up giving out (which I…

Saturday in Seomyeon

This weekend was gray and rainy.  I had planned on heading to the Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival on Sunday, but the weather and my persistent cough didn’t really make me want to do anything.  I managed to get a sweet pair of prescription glasses (frames, check up, and lenses for KRW 10,000 at Davich!) on…
