Hipmunk Hotels: Cheapest Hotels in Herndon, Wheeling, Reston, Richmond, and Warwick!

This past weekend, someone asked me to list all the places in the United States and Canada to which I had traveled. I’ve taken a number of road-trips with my Mom throughout Southern Ontario, but we’ve never crossed a border into the American Northeast, just the two of us. Now that I’m an adult, Mum and I can travel certain places which may have been a bit difficult to check out way back when. I’d like to visit some more iconic spots across the globe, but there’s also something to be said for checking out laid-back, relaxed spots.  Here’s the best way to stretch your USD and get some sweet repose while out on the open road.

Herdon, VA

Traveling with your pooch through Herndon, VA? No problem! The Hyatt Place Herndon Dulles Airport East allows pets, has free parking, free Wi-Fi, and will get your morning started right with a free breakfast! I prefer staying at large, well-known hotels, but ultimately find that peak nights can get pricy. The Hyatt Place averages around $75 for a Saturday night in July, so it won’t break the bank. Plus, it has a pool and a gym!

Reston, VA

You know I’m all about Dad jokes and bad puns, so when I found out there was a Westin hotel in Reston, VA I had to check it out. Come on, staying at the Westin in Reston, and for under $100 (July 2016 averages $82/ night on Hipmunk, while the Westin website says a standard room starts at $250)? It’s a no-brainer!  This location has a pool, a fitness center, free Wi-Fi, and allows pets.  There’s a golf course and tons of shopping nearby, and the hotel offers a complimentary airport shuttle. The Weston Reston Heights seems like the perfect place to relax and unwind.

Richmond, VA

Richmond, VA doesn’t exactly seem like a budget-friendly kind of town, but for $56/night, you can find yourself in a spacious room at the Econo Lodge.  With free Wi-Fi, free parking, free breakfast, and a pool, it’s a quick and easy place with a dependable brand where you can stay without worry while passing through.

Wheeling, WV

Nearing laundry day on the road? Why not check out an Airbnb in Wheeling, WV?  There’s a Charming 115-year-old home in Wheeling, WV, that looks like it would be a great place to crash if you’re missing some of the comforts of home. Plus, you’ll only be spending $67/night. Sure, there’s a shared bathroom instead of a private bedroom, but maybe you’ll meet someone fantastic who has also chosen to rest up in an old Victorian home!

Warwick, RI

Another place where saving your cash isn’t too tough is Warwick, RI. A 5-minute drive from TFGreen Airport, 10 minutes away from Providence, an hour and a half from Boston, and within under an hour from beaches, there’s another Airbnb I would definitely consider while roadtripping.  Historic Pawtuxet Village Blue Room is in a house with two cats and three dogs, and has a koi pond in the backyard. The bedroom is simple, but the gardens are worth the $62/night!
